ICTP School and Workshop on Driven Quantum Systems

The School and Workshop on Driven Quantum Systems will take place at the Amancay Hotel, located amidst the natural beauties of the Nahuel Huapi National Park, Patagonia, Argentina, 25km West of the city of Bariloche.
School, Nov. 21 - Nov. 26 2016
The purpose of the school is to bring together young researchers with specialists working on the physics of driven quantum systems (please find here the School program). The School will allow young scientists to talk and discuss their ideas with leading experts in the field as well as to learn the most recent developments at "first hand".
The School will be limited to 20-25 PhD. students and postdocs who are expected to arrive on the afternoon of Sunday the 20th and stay for the whole activity. The selected participants will have their local expenses fully covered (housing in double rooms, all meals and School dinner). The applicants to the School are strongly encouraged to apply to the Workshop (housing and meals will also be covered). Priority will be given to PhD students and postdocs willing to attend both activities.
There is no registration fee for the School. The Workshop fee will be waived for School participants.

Workshop, Nov. 28 - Dec. 2 2016
The field of driven quantum systems has attracted a great deal of attention in recent years, fueled by the impressive experimental advances achieved in the design and manipulation of quantum systems of very different nature: cold atoms, quantum dots in semiconductors, graphene, topological insulators, superconducting qubits, optical cavities, etc.
Interest in these systems ranges from the need to deepen our understanding of the response (dynamics) of single and many-body systems to periodic or pulsed external fields, to the design of new states of matter with interesting topological properties, or the precise control of muti-qubit systems for quantum computation.
The activity will highlight recent experimental and theoretical results at the forefront of international research, including, but not limited to, the following topics:
- Cold atoms
- Driven topological insulators and graphene
- Irradiated superconductors
- Quantum optics.
- Adiabatic quantum computing. Quantum Memories.
- Quantum control of driven solid state qubits (quantum dots, superconducting qubits).
Invited talks will be 40 min long and contributed talks will be 30 min long. Poster sessions are also scheduled. Wednesday afternoon will be reserved for recreational activities.

All the admitted participants must pay a Workshop fee of US$300 (the fee is waived for School participants only). The fee includes all meals (lunch and dinner), coffee breaks, and Conference dinner. The School students attending the Workshop will have all housing and meals expenses covered until December 2nd 10am.
