Title Vortex dynamics in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ single crystals with planar defects Type Journal Article
Year 2001 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 120 Issue 2-3 Pages 59-63
Keywords
Abstract We have studied the effects of c-axis correlated planar defects on the vortex lattice of Bi$2$Sr$2$CaCu$8$ single crystals using Bitter decoration, transverse ac permeability and X-ray measurements. Our results show that the low field low temperature phase coherent vortex lattice exhibits anisotropic pinning in the presence of these planar defects. Frequency dependent ac permeability measurements show that the ordered solid-liquid transition is first order as in samples free of correlated defects. However, the melting point is detected only when the excitation field is along the defects.

Title Superconductivity under pressure and low temperature specific heat of ThPr alloys Type Journal Article
Year 1982 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 43 Issue 12 Pages 925-931
Keywords
Abstract Measurements of superconducting transition temperature under pressure and low temperature specific heat are presented for ThPr alloys. At 18.2 kbar the normal- to superconducting-state phase boundary extends beyond 50 at.% Pr. This system is discussed in terms of a non-magnetic singlet ground state for the Pr3+ ions due to crystal field splitting. A splitting scheme which varies with Pr concentration is proposed.

Title Fluctuation induced diamagnetism in aluminum Type Journal Article
Year 1971 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 9 Issue 20 Pages 1729-1732
Keywords
Abstract The magnetic field and temperature dependence of the magnetization of bulk aluminum near the normal-superconductor transition has been measured. Due to the large amount of supercooling in one of the samples it was possible to extend the measurements well below the critical temperature. A comparison of the experimental results with theory is presented.

Title Superconducting properties in heavily overdoped Ba(Fe0.86Co0.14)2As2 single crystals Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 201 Issue Pages 20-24
Keywords A. Iron arsenide superconductors; B. Upper critical field; C. Magnetic penetration depth; D. Vortex pinning
Abstract Abstract

We report the intrinsic superconducting parameters in a heavily overdoped Ba(Fe1−xCox)2As2 (x=0.14) single crystal and their influence in the resulting vortex dynamics. We find a bulk superconducting critical temperature of 9.8 K, magnetic penetration depth λab (0)=660±50 nm, coherence length ξab (0)=6.4±0.2 nm, and the upper critical field anisotropy γT→Tc≈3.7. The vortex phase diagram, in comparison with the optimally doped compound, presents a narrow collective creep regime. The intrinsic pinning energy plays an important role in the resulting vortex dynamics as compared with similar pinning landscape and comparable intrinsic thermal fluctuations.

Title Strong magnetic field dependence of critical current densities and vortex activation energies in an anisotropic clean MgB2 thin film Type Journal Article
Year 2015 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 204 Issue Pages 56-60
Keywords A. Superconducting materials; B. Films; C. Magnetic penetration depth; D. Vortex pinning
Abstract We report the influence of two-band superconductivity on the flux creep and the critical current densities of a MgB2 thin film. The small magnetic penetration depth of λ=50±10 nm at T=4 K is related to a clean π-band. We find a high self-field critical current density Jc, which is strongly reduced with applied magnetic field, and attribute this to suppression of the superconductivity in the π-band. The temperature dependence of the creep rate S (T) at low magnetic field can be explained by a simple Anderson–Kim mechanism. The system shows high pinning energies at low field that are strongly suppressed by high field.

Title Low temperature specific heat of ThU Type Journal Article
Year 1972 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 10 Issue 5 Pages 459
Keywords
Abstract The low temperature specific heat of the weakly magnetic system Image U has been measured in both the normal and superconducting states. U impurities are found to enhanve the normal state electronic specific heat coefficient γ at an unusually large rate of 4.85 ± 0.50 mJ/mole °K2 at. % U. The specific heat jump at the superconducting transition for an alloy of composition 0.075 at. % U follows the BCS law of corresponding states suggesting that the system Image U is essentially non-magnetic at superconducting temperatures.

Title Ideal two dimensional flux pinning induced by annealing in superconducting amorphous Zr75Rh25 Type Journal Article
Year 1986 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 57 Issue 9 Pages 753-756
Keywords ZIRCONIUM COMPOUNDS – Physical Properties; CRITICAL CURRENT; FLUX PINNING; MELT SPINNING; PINNING FORCES; SUPERCONDUCTING MATRIX; SUPERCONDUCTING MATERIALS
Abstract By annealing amorphous Zr75Rh25 prepared by melt spinning an ideal behaviour of the critical current was observed, in which the measured pinning forces are seen to follow the two dimensional Larkin-Orchivnikov theory. In the region where this theory is valid the changes in the pinning forces can be explained by the changes in the superconducting matrix and it can be assumed that the pinning centers do not change with the heat treatment.

Title Thermal conductivity and “disorder” in high temperature superconductors Type Journal Article
Year 1988 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 67 Issue 4 Pages 401-404
Keywords
Abstract We analyze the controversial thermal conductivity results on high temperature superconductors by scaling the data with material parameters to compare them to other materials with similar behaviour. We show that they have the same general features observed in amorphous and disordered crystalline materials. Possible origins of the disorder are discussed.

Title La1.80 Sr0.20 CuO4-delta a clean limit superconductor Type Journal Article

Volume 65 Issue 6 Pages 491-494
Keywords CERAMIC MATERIALS; LANTHANUM COMPOUNDS – Electric Conductivity; CERAMIC SUPERCONDUCTORS; CLEAN LIMIT SUPERCONDUCTOR; HIGH-TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTORS; OXYGEN CONCENTRATION; SUPERCONDUCTING MATERIALS
Abstract The electrical resistivity of the superconductor La1.80Sr0.20Cu04-? has been measured in a wide range of temperatures as a function of oxygen and vacuum heat treatments. The resistivity changes reversibly orders of magnitude with oxygen concentration. There is no sign of saturation at high temperatures, even for samples where the resistivity is increased by heat treatment in vacuum. Using the experimental data and general arguments it is concluded that the ceramic superconductors are high ? materials in the clean limit.
