Title Magnetic behavior of superconductor/ferromagnet superlattices Type Journal Article
Year 2007 Publication PHYSICAL REVIEW B Abbreviated Journal
Volume 75 Issue 6 Pages
Keywords
Abstract (up) A study of the electromagnetic response of superconductor/ferromagnet Nb/Co superlattices is presented. The dc magnetization is measured as a function of Co layer thickness, applied field H-a, and temperature. For very thin Co layers, no ferromagnetism is detected and the observed response is essentially that of a collection of uncoupled Nb layers. When the Co layer is thick enough for ferromagnetism to be established, prior to the field-cooled magnetization measurements, the Co layers are magnetically saturated in the parallel or antiparallel directions to H-a. In this case, the magnetic response of the otherwise uncoupled Nb layers is found to depend on both H-a and the stray fields.

Title Sensitive Hot Wire Level Detector for Cryogenic Liquids Type Journal Article
Year 1969 Publication Review of Scientific Instruments Abbreviated Journal Rev. Sci. Instrum.
Volume 40 Issue 3 Pages 483-486
Keywords
Abstract (up) A very simple and highly sensitive ``hot wire'' type level detector to be used with cryogenic liquids is described. The hot filament is made of tungsten wire of about 4 µ diam. The tests on the sensor were made moving the filament in and out of the quiescent surfaces of liquid helium and nitrogen. The results showed 0.006 mm sensitivity in the determination of liquid helium level and 0.002 mm sensitivity in the case of liquid nitrogen level. The sensor is assembled in such a way that it can be used without special precautions during indefinite periods of time. For the case when the full capabilities of the sensor are not necessary, a simple circuit is presented.

Title Ideal two dimensional flux pinning induced by annealing in superconducting amorphous Zr75Rh25 Type Journal Article

Abstract (up) By annealing amorphous Zr75Rh25 prepared by melt spinning an ideal behaviour of the critical current was observed, in which the measured pinning forces are seen to follow the two dimensional Larkin-Orchivnikov theory. In the region where this theory is valid the changes in the pinning forces can be explained by the changes in the superconducting matrix and it can be assumed that the pinning centers do not change with the heat treatment.

Keywords ZIRCONIUM COPPER ALLOYS
Abstract (up) By means of thermal heat treatment of amorphous Zr70Cu30 it is shown that the induced decrease in critical temperature is followed by a reduction in the electronic density of states of the same magnitude as that obtained by changing the Cu concentration. This result indicates that the density of states is the fundamental microscopic parameter determining the superconducting behavior.

Title Low angle electron scattering in thermal resistivity Type Journal Article

Abstract (up) Electrical ( rho ) and thermal (W) resistivity measurements in very dilute In alloys between 1K and 4K show a temperature dependence expressed by rho = rho 0+ beta T5 and WT=(WT)0+AT3+BT5. The BT5 term in the thermal resistivity is due to a contribution from a 'diffusion-like process' of electrons over the Fermi surface, as is the one that describes the temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity. This claim is supported by the experimental fact that the Lorenz number defined as L= beta /B coincides with the value given by L= rho 0/(WT)0 which in turn agrees with the free electron value within 15%.

Title Flux-cutting in YBa2Cu3O7-delta revisited Type Journal Article
Year 2002 Publication PHYSICA C-SUPERCONDUCTIVITY AND ITS APPLICATIONS Abbreviated Journal
Volume 371 Issue 3 Pages 237-242

Abstract (up) In this paper we present an analysis of the response of the vortices in YBa2Cu3O7-delta to different configurations of applied driving forces. The use of inhomogeneous current allows us to induce vortex cutting. We determine the maximum current injected in different electrical contact distributions which preserves vortex integrity, and we show that vortex cutting cannot be explained by a single vortex picture. Abstract (up) It has been shown1 that surface superconductivity can be used as a localized thermomether to study the temperature close to an interface through which heat is being transported. Knowledge of the temperature profile in the interface region provides evidence which any theory of the heat transport mechanism must take into account. For interfaces between pure lead and HeII we have previously found1 clear differences between extrapolated surface temperatures Tk. and Tm, measured within some 1000Ã… of the interface using a superconducting thermometer. (The reader is refered to ref.1 for details on the experimental method).

Title Percolation and glass behavior in ceramic superconductors: oxygen effects Type Journal Article
Year 1989 Publication Modern Physics Letters B Abbreviated Journal Mod. Phys. Lett. B
Volume 3 Issue 2 Pages 173-181
Keywords
Abstract (up) It is shown that small variations of oxygen content in La1.8Sr0.2CuO4−δ can be used to control the reversible and irreversible magnetization temperature dependence of the superconducting state. A grain bond model is appropriate to describe the superconducting response of the ceramics. The study of the temperature dependence of the magnetization and the resistive transition temperature, in a slightly deoxygenated sample, show that the reversible superconducting state is strongly correlated to superconducting percolation. Deoxygenation has been shown to be an excellent technique to study the time evolution of metastable states induced by currents in the bonds and or in the grains. It is shown that superconducting grains are not correlated to ceramic grains.
