Title Short-time magnetization in superconducting thin films Type Journal Article
Year 1998 Publication REVISTA MEXICANA DE FISICA Abbreviated Journal
Volume 44 Issue Pages 193-195
Keywords
Abstract We have investigated the magnetization in thin (Y;Gd)Ba2Cu3O7-delta superconducting films in the 100 μs time scale. Magnetic moment was measured with a non-conventional technique that combines the use of a pulsed magnetic field and a synchronized pulsed laser. Both virgin and magnetically cycled samples were examined and results are described within Bean's critical state model.

Title Flux-cutting in YBa2Cu3O7-delta revisited Type Journal Article
Year 2002 Publication PHYSICA C-SUPERCONDUCTIVITY AND ITS APPLICATIONS Abbreviated Journal
Volume 371 Issue 3 Pages 237-242
Keywords
Abstract In this paper we present an analysis of the response of the vortices in YBa2Cu3O7-delta to different configurations of applied driving forces. The use of inhomogeneous current allows us to induce vortex cutting. We determine the maximum current injected in different electrical contact distributions which preserves vortex integrity, and we show that vortex cutting cannot be explained by a single vortex picture. Title Bose-glass phase in twinned YBa2Cu3O7-delta Type Journal Article

Keywords
Abstract Using an extensive scaling analysis of the transport properties in twinned YBa2Cu3O7-delta crystals we have experimentally found the predicted change in the universality class of the Bose-glass to liquid transition when the magnetic field is applied at small angles away from the direction of the correlated defects. The new dynamical critical exponent is s' = 1.1 +/- 0.3.

Title Two-step liquid-solid vortex transition with the field along the ab planes in YBa2Cu3O7-delta crystals Type Journal Article
Year 1999 Publication PHYSICAL REVIEW B Abbreviated Journal
Volume 59 Issue 17 Pages 11201-11204
Keywords
Abstract Resistivity measurements for different Lorentz force configurations and the detection of the longitudinal vortex velocity correlation length, with the magnetic field applied parallel to the ab planes, in the mixed state of clean and twinned YBa2Cu3O7-delta single crystals,' support the existence of a vortex-smectic phase when the vortices interact with an attractive periodic potential. The transition from the vortex-liquid to the vortex-solid state is shown to be achieved in two steps, a continuous transition from a liquid to a possible smectic phase and another continuous one from the smectic phase to a solid. Abstract We demonstrate experimentally that when the vortex correlation length in the liquid state becomes of the order of the sample thickness, size effects dominate the transport properties of the macroscopic vortex structures, implying a nonlocal response in the transformer experiments.

Title Dimensional phase transition in superconductors with short coherence length Type Journal Article
Year 1988 Publication Physical Review B Abbreviated Journal PRB
Volume 38 Issue 4 Pages 2342-2344
Keywords
Abstract We found a novel dimensional transition in the vortex lattice of a finite-sized superconductor. The low-field dependence (with field applied parallel to the film plane) of the magnetization exhibits two maxima, which signal the transition from one to two dimensions. In one dimension the vortices line up along the film, and with increasing field their arrangement changes into a two-dimensional array due to the competition between vortex-surface and vortex-vortex repulsion. Agreement is found with no adjustable parameter calculations using a priori known surface-barrier and vortex-repulsion effects.

Title Penetration depth of a superconducting superlattice Type Journal Article
Year 1987 Publication Physical Review B Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. B
Volume 35 Issue 7 Pages 3655-3656
Keywords
Abstract We have measured the magnetic-flux expulsion of a superconducting superlattice and related it to the Meissner penetration depth. The temperature dependence of the penetration depth is in quantitative agreement with theoretical expectation based on mean-field theory. The zero-temperature penetration depth is found in excellent, quantitative agreement without adjustable parameters with theoretical predictions for dirty superconductors.

Title Size dependence of the Superconducting critical temperature and fields of Nb/Al multilayers Type Journal Article
Year 1986 Publication Journal of Low Temperature Physics Abbreviated Journal J. Low Temp. Phys.
Volume 63 Issue 1-2 Pages 151-165
Keywords
Abstract The critical temperatureT cof Nb/Al multilayers decreases as the total sample thicknessd Tis decreased while the thickness of each Nb and Al layer is kept constant. To understand this behavior, models based on the proximity effect and on weak two-dimensional (2D) localization are employed. The latter uses a characteristic length, the thermal diffusion length, in relation tod Tto obtain 2D behavior and leads to a reasonable explanation ofT c(d T). It is also found that the slope atT c(d T) of the critical magnetic field perpendicular to the layers is independent ofd Twhen the Nb and Al layer thicknesses are kept constant. The angular dependence of the critical field is also measured.

Title Magnetic behaviour of superconductor/ferromagnet metallic and perovskite based superlattices Type Journal Article

Abstract We present a study of the magnetic behaviour of superconducting/ferromagnetic superlattices, both for metallic and perovskite based systems. In the first case we find that the response is determined by the ferromagnetic layer regime. If these layers are very thin, no ferromagnetism is observed, but the superconducting layers are decoupled, and the superlattice behaves as a stack of independent superconducting films. For thicker ferromagnetic films, ferromagnetism is established and the effective field resulting from the superposition of stray and applied fields dominates the superconducting response of the superlattice. For the perovskite based superlattices, the physical properties are more affected by interface disorder. In this case we have found that the behaviour can be interpeted as charge carrier transfer between both materials, inducing a change in the magnetic character of the manganite.
