Title Ideal two dimensional flux pinning induced by annealing in superconducting amorphous Zr75Rh25 Type Journal Article
Year 1986 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 57 Issue 9 Pages (down) 753-756
Keywords ZIRCONIUM COMPOUNDS – Physical Properties; CRITICAL CURRENT; FLUX PINNING; MELT SPINNING; PINNING FORCES; SUPERCONDUCTING MATRIX; SUPERCONDUCTING MATERIALS
Abstract By annealing amorphous Zr75Rh25 prepared by melt spinning an ideal behaviour of the critical current was observed, in which the measured pinning forces are seen to follow the two dimensional Larkin-Orchivnikov theory. In the region where this theory is valid the changes in the pinning forces can be explained by the changes in the superconducting matrix and it can be assumed that the pinning centers do not change with the heat treatment.

Title Supercooling and superheating in Al and Zn Type Journal Article
Year 1971 Publication Physica Abbreviated Journal
Volume 55 Issue Pages (down) 749-759
Keywords
Abstract We have studied the supercooling and superheating of Al and Zn in the temperature range between 0.5 and 1.2 K. The samples, collections of dispersed and isolated small spheres, were prepared by spraying of the molten metal into liquid nitrogen. The supercooling and superheating fields obtained are, by all indications, close to the theoretical limit. From the supercooling fields observed we determined the Ginzburg-Landau parameter κ(Tc) = 0.015, for both Al and Zn. The superheating field exhibits a strong temperature dependence near Tc, which reflects the extremely non-local electrodynamics of the materials. The results are discussed in the light of recent theoretical work.

Title Superconducting intermediate state in cadmium Type Journal Article
Year 1976 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 18 Issue 6 Pages (down) 747-749
Keywords
Abstract Perpendicular magnetic critical fields for cadmium foils were measured to thicknesses below the temperature dependent coherence length. The presence of supercooling indicates first-order thermodynamic transitions for all samples. A modification of Davies' model leads to a good fit of the experimental data.

Title Logarithmic to nonlogarithmic flux creep transition and magnetic flux hardening in BiSrCaCuO superconducting ceramics Type Journal Article
Year 1989 Publication Physica C: Superconductivity Abbreviated Journal
Volume 162-164, Part 1 Issue Pages (down) 665-666
Keywords
Abstract A sharp temperature and field dependent transition from a logarithmic to a non-logarithmic flux creep behavior has been found in BiSrCaCuO superconductors. The transition is not followed by any noticeable change in the magnetization. However, vibrating reed measurements show that it coincides with a strong hardening of the magnetic structure. The transition occurs at fields and temperatures well below the reversibility line. The possible relation to the recently proposed flux lattice melting is discussed.

Title Model relating superconductive penetration depth and metallurgical phase separation in amorphous La70Cu30 Type Journal Article
Year 1982 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 42 Issue 8 Pages (down) 575-577

Abstract A model is proposed to account for the large increase in the measured penetration depth of superconducting, amorphous La70Cu30 when the specimens are annealed sufficiently long near, but below, the crystallization temperature. It is suggested that a metallurgical phase separation occurs with domain dimensions in the submicrometer range. Penetration depth measurements as a function of temperature in a weak magnetic field are a useful tool to detect changes in phase separation in high-K materials.

Title The true pinning force range in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 single crystals at low temperatures Type Journal Article
Year 2004 Publication Physica C Abbreviated Journal
Volume 408-410 Issue Pages (down) 531-532
Keywords
Abstract We study the effective profile of the pinning potential well in Bi$2$Sr$2$CaCu$_2$O8+δ single crystals using transverse ac magnetic susceptibility. The results show that the harmonic approximation for the potential well (linear regime) is valid up to vortex displacements $r\simeqξ$, where ξ, is the coherence length. In spite of this, it is necessary to induce displacements of the vortex structure much larger than ξ to depin it from its potential. This is shown to take place even in the single vortex limit.

Year 1988 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 65 Issue 6 Pages (down) 491-494

Abstract The electrical resistivity of the superconductor La1.80Sr0.20Cu04-? has been measured in a wide range of temperatures as a function of oxygen and vacuum heat treatments. The resistivity changes reversibly orders of magnitude with oxygen concentration. There is no sign of saturation at high temperatures, even for samples where the resistivity is increased by heat treatment in vacuum. Using the experimental data and general arguments it is concluded that the ceramic superconductors are high ? materials in the clean limit.

Title Sensitive Hot Wire Level Detector for Cryogenic Liquids Type Journal Article
Year 1969 Publication Review of Scientific Instruments Abbreviated Journal Rev. Sci. Instrum.
Volume 40 Issue 3 Pages (down) 483-486
Keywords
Abstract A very simple and highly sensitive ``hot wire'' type level detector to be used with cryogenic liquids is described. The hot filament is made of tungsten wire of about 4 µ diam. The tests on the sensor were made moving the filament in and out of the quiescent surfaces of liquid helium and nitrogen. The results showed 0.006 mm sensitivity in the determination of liquid helium level and 0.002 mm sensitivity in the case of liquid nitrogen level. The sensor is assembled in such a way that it can be used without special precautions during indefinite periods of time. For the case when the full capabilities of the sensor are not necessary, a simple circuit is presented.
