Title Two-step liquid-solid vortex transition with the field along the ab planes in YBa2Cu3O7-delta crystals Type Journal Article
Year 1999 Publication PHYSICAL REVIEW B Abbreviated Journal
Volume 59 Issue 17 Pages 11201-11204
Keywords
Abstract Resistivity measurements for different Lorentz force configurations and the detection of the longitudinal vortex velocity correlation length, with the magnetic field applied parallel to the ab planes, in the mixed state of clean and twinned YBa2Cu3O7-delta single crystals,' support the existence of a vortex-smectic phase when the vortices interact with an attractive periodic potential. The transition from the vortex-liquid to the vortex-solid state is shown to be achieved in two steps, a continuous transition from a liquid to a possible smectic phase and another continuous one from the smectic phase to a solid. Title Temperature dependence of the superconducting giant-vortex state. Theory and Experiment Type Journal Article
Year 1979 Publication Physical Review B Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. B
Volume 20 Issue 5 Pages 1947-1959
Keywords
Abstract When a type-I superconductor with a surface nucleation field Hc3(T)>Hc(T) (thermodynamic critical field) is thermally cycled in an axially applied magnetic field H0 between the temperatures T(Hc3) and about T(Hc), experiments show that the magnetization changes reversibly. The latter is diamagnetic near T(Hc3) but can be paramagnetic just above T(Hc). This behavior is explained by assuming that the fluxoid quantum number b is fixed at the transition from the normal to the superconducting state and retained at lower temperatures. The value of b is determined almost entirely by the flux at the transition which is enclosed by a contour located at a distance ξ1.7 from the surface inside the cylinder (ξ is the coherence length). The temperature variation of the order parameter f at the surface of the cylinder, the magnetization m, and the temperature at which m=0 for f≠0 are calculated for R>>ξ. Conservation of the fluxoid quantum number, while T is varied causes the two opposing surface currents to become imbalanced. This is the source of the observed para- and diamagnetism.

Title Metallic to variable-range-hopping transition controlled by oxygen content in La-Sr-Cu-O Type Journal Article
Year 1988 Publication Physical Review B Abbreviated Journal
Volume 38 Issue 4 Pages 2840-2842
Keywords
Abstract We have performed electrical resistivity measurements on the superconductor La1.8Sr0.2CuO4- over a wide range of temperatures and oxygen concentration. The results provide experimental evidence for a transition from a metallic behavior at high temperatures to a variable-range hopping regime at low temperatures. The transition is controlled by the oxygen content. Correlation between both regimes is also shown.

Title Current-voltage characteristics in collective pinning Type Journal Article
Year 1987 Publication Physical Review B Abbreviated Journal
Volume 36 Issue 13 Pages 6850-6852
Keywords
Abstract The critical-current curves of amorphous samples which exhibit collective flux pinning have been analyzed, and it was found that the nonlinear part can be fitted by an expression of the form V(I)[(I-IK)/IK]. This form, which could be due to critical behavior, is consistent with an interpretation of the unpinning of vortices in the collective regime as a phase transition between the static flux-line lattice (FLL) and the FLL in steady-state movement as has been proposed by Fisher.

Title Superconducting behaviour of Nb/Co superlattices Type Journal Article
Year 2007 Publication Applied Surface Science Abbreviated Journal Appl. Surf. Sci.
Volume 254 Issue 1 Pages 375-377
Keywords
Abstract We study the superconducting and magnetic behaviour of Nb/Co superlattices, for superconducting Nb layer thickness of 44 nm and Co layer thickness less than 1 nm. In this limit no ferromagnetism is observed for Co. The superlattice behaves as independent superconducting Nb layers. We obtain the penetration depth and superconducting gap of the material, and analyze the results in terms of microscopic models and theories. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Volume 5 Issue 3 Pages 481

Abstract Precise electrical resistivity measurements on very dilute non magnetic indium alloys show no doubt in a T 5 dependence on temperature between 1-4K and strong deviations from Matthiessen rule. Measurements of thermal resistivity show that the extrapolation method to obtain the data to H=0 is correct. Comparison of the results with recent theories is discussed.

Title Angular restrictions on the glass transition and on the c-axis correlated liquid phase in twinned YBa2Cu3O7-? Type Journal Article
Year 1997 Publication Physics Letters A Abbreviated Journal Phys. Lett. A
Volume 233 Issue 1-2 Pages 130-134
Keywords
Abstract We have measured the angular dependence of the vortex velocity correlation temperature Tth(H) in twinned YBa2Cu3O7-? single crystals. The data show that the c-axis correlated vortex liquid phase exists up to angles much larger than expected within a single vortex pinning picture. Despite this, the second-order solid-liquid glass transition is shown to be restricted only to external magnetic fields applied within a few degrees from the c-axis direction.

Title Angular field dependence of the Nernst effect in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta Type Journal Article
Year 2007 Publication PHYSICA C-SUPERCONDUCTIVITY AND ITS APPLICATIONS Abbreviated Journal
Volume 460 Issue Pages 841-842
Keywords
Abstract The anomalous Nernst effect in hole-doped cuprates has been interpreted in terms of the existence of a superconducting order parameter well above the transition temperature, T-c(H). In order to improve the understanding of this problem, we have measured the angular field dependence of the Nernst signal in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta single crystals. The experiment was done tilting the magnetic field with respect to the direction of the temperature gradient, above and below T,(H), with applied fields up to 16 T. We have found that all the curves are scaled on one curve against the reduced field Hcos theta at a fixed temperature. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
