Title Phonon thermal conductivity limited by electron scattering in amorphous Zr70Cu30 Type Journal Article
Year 1983 Publication Physical Review B Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. B
Volume 27 Issue (up) 5 Pages 3069-3072
Keywords Zr70Cu30; superconductivity; amorphous
Abstract The low-temperature thermal conductivity of amorphous Zr70Cu30 is investigated. The lattice thermal conductivity as limited by electrons in the superconducting state has been obtained at temperatures close to Tc. This has allowed for the first time the verification of the temperature dependence of the phonon conductivity as predicted by Bardeen, Rickayzen, and Tewordt. The analysis of the data in the normal and superconducting state shows that Matthiessen's rule can be used in amorphous metals to separate the different scattering processes.

Title Magnetic behavior of superconductor/ferromagnet superlattices Type Journal Article
Year 2007 Publication PHYSICAL REVIEW B Abbreviated Journal
Volume 75 Issue (up) 6 Pages
Keywords
Abstract A study of the electromagnetic response of superconductor/ferromagnet Nb/Co superlattices is presented. The dc magnetization is measured as a function of Co layer thickness, applied field H-a, and temperature. For very thin Co layers, no ferromagnetism is detected and the observed response is essentially that of a collection of uncoupled Nb layers. When the Co layer is thick enough for ferromagnetism to be established, prior to the field-cooled magnetization measurements, the Co layers are magnetically saturated in the parallel or antiparallel directions to H-a. In this case, the magnetic response of the otherwise uncoupled Nb layers is found to depend on both H-a and the stray fields.

Title Superconducting intermediate state in cadmium Type Journal Article
Year 1976 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 18 Issue (up) 6 Pages 747-749
Keywords
Abstract Perpendicular magnetic critical fields for cadmium foils were measured to thicknesses below the temperature dependent coherence length. The presence of supercooling indicates first-order thermodynamic transitions for all samples. A modification of Davies' model leads to a good fit of the experimental data.

Title Heat treatment effects in amorphous metals: Zr70Cu30 and La70Cu30 Type Journal Article
Year 1982 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 44 Issue (up) 6 Pages 941-944
Keywords
Abstract We measured the electrical resistivity (4–300 K), superconducting critical temperature and thermal conductivity (0.5–7 K) of the amorphous metals Zr70Cu30 and La70Cu30. Heat treatments below crystallization temperature induced changes in these properties. In particular, in the first stage of the annealing of Zr70Cu30 there are systematic changes in the thermal conductivity and the critical temperature, while the electrical resistivity remains constant. We show that there is no simple correlation between the thermal conductivity processes in the low temperature and plateau regions. We also show that the thermal conductivity of as quenched La70Cu30 is typical of amorphous metals, contrary to information previously reported.

Title La1.80 Sr0.20 CuO4-delta a clean limit superconductor Type Journal Article
Year 1988 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 65 Issue (up) 6 Pages 491-494

Abstract The electrical resistivity of the superconductor La1.80Sr0.20Cu04-? has been measured in a wide range of temperatures as a function of oxygen and vacuum heat treatments. The resistivity changes reversibly orders of magnitude with oxygen concentration. There is no sign of saturation at high temperatures, even for samples where the resistivity is increased by heat treatment in vacuum. Using the experimental data and general arguments it is concluded that the ceramic superconductors are high ? materials in the clean limit.

Abstract We describe a new device to produce ribbons of disordered metals by ultrarapid quenching combining an arc furnace with a rotating cylinder. The characterization of samples of disordered La70 Cu30 and La76Au24 prepared using this method shows good agreement with those obtained by other authors for the same alloys.

Abstract We demonstrate experimentally that when the vortex correlation length in the liquid state becomes of the order of the sample thickness, size effects dominate the transport properties of the macroscopic vortex structures, implying a nonlocal response in the transformer experiments.

Volume 21 Issue (up) 7 Pages 2804-2808

Abstract The phase diagram of nonequilibrium, splat-cooled CuxLa1-x is interpreted by means of superconductive-transition and x-ray measurements. At the eutectic composition the material is shown to be in a highly disordered state. Measurements of dc resistance and ac susceptibility show that there are two different critical fields at the disordered concentration although there is a unique critical temperature.

Title Penetration depth of a superconducting superlattice Type Journal Article
Year 1987 Publication Physical Review B Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. B
Volume 35 Issue (up) 7 Pages 3655-3656
Keywords
Abstract We have measured the magnetic-flux expulsion of a superconducting superlattice and related it to the Meissner penetration depth. The temperature dependence of the penetration depth is in quantitative agreement with theoretical expectation based on mean-field theory. The zero-temperature penetration depth is found in excellent, quantitative agreement without adjustable parameters with theoretical predictions for dirty superconductors.
