Abstract We discuss the changes in transport and superconducting properties of amorphous Zr70Cu30,

induced by thermal relaxation The experimental results are used to investigate the

relation between the microscopic parameters and the observed physical properties It

is shown that the density of eletronic states determines the shift Tc as well as the

variation of the electrical resistivity It is necessary to assume strong hybridization

between s and d bands to understand the eletrodynamic response of the superconductor

Title Two dimensional collective flux pinning in melt spun superconducting amorphous Zr70Cu30 Type Journal Article
Year (up) 1985 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 55 Issue 3 Pages 227-230
Keywords ZIRCONIUM COPPER ALLOYS – Amorphous; CRITICAL CURRENTS; PINNING FORCES; SUPERCONDUCTING MATERIALS
Abstract We have measured the critical currents in melt spun amorphous Zr70Cu30 and their evolution with heat treatment. We found that the pinning forces may be interpreted in terms of the Larkin-Ovchinnikov two dimensional collective pinning theory.

Title Size dependence of the Superconducting critical temperature and fields of Nb/Al multilayers Type Journal Article

Abstract The critical temperatureT cof Nb/Al multilayers decreases as the total sample thicknessd Tis decreased while the thickness of each Nb and Al layer is kept constant. To understand this behavior, models based on the proximity effect and on weak two-dimensional (2D) localization are employed. The latter uses a characteristic length, the thermal diffusion length, in relation tod Tto obtain 2D behavior and leads to a reasonable explanation ofT c(d T). It is also found that the slope atT c(d T) of the critical magnetic field perpendicular to the layers is independent ofd Twhen the Nb and Al layer thicknesses are kept constant. The angular dependence of the critical field is also measured.

Title Dimensional crossovers in collective flux pinning Type Journal Article
Year (up) 1986 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun
Volume 60 Issue 2 Pages 151-155
Keywords
Abstract The pinning force density in ribbons of melt spun (a) Zr70Cu30 is found to obey the Larkin-Ovchinnikov theory of collective pinning by dislocation loops, and shows two and three dimensional behaviour, besides an intermediate regime not contemplated by the theory. The dimensional crossovers allow determination of the radius of action of the pinning forces which is shown to be proportional to the coherence length. Its magnitude is too small, which points to quantitative shortcomings of the current theory.

Title Ideal two dimensional flux pinning induced by annealing in superconducting amorphous Zr75Rh25 Type Journal Article
Year (up) 1986 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 57 Issue 9 Pages 753-756
Keywords ZIRCONIUM COMPOUNDS – Physical Properties; CRITICAL CURRENT; FLUX PINNING; MELT SPINNING; PINNING FORCES; SUPERCONDUCTING MATRIX; SUPERCONDUCTING MATERIALS
Abstract By annealing amorphous Zr75Rh25 prepared by melt spinning an ideal behaviour of the critical current was observed, in which the measured pinning forces are seen to follow the two dimensional Larkin-Orchivnikov theory. In the region where this theory is valid the changes in the pinning forces can be explained by the changes in the superconducting matrix and it can be assumed that the pinning centers do not change with the heat treatment.

Title Current-voltage characteristics in collective pinning Type Journal Article

Abstract The critical-current curves of amorphous samples which exhibit collective flux pinning have been analyzed, and it was found that the nonlinear part can be fitted by an expression of the form V(I)[(I-IK)/IK]. This form, which could be due to critical behavior, is consistent with an interpretation of the unpinning of vortices in the collective regime as a phase transition between the static flux-line lattice (FLL) and the FLL in steady-state movement as has been proposed by Fisher.

Title The granular nature of bulk superconductivity at 40K in La1.8Sr0.2CuO4 Type Journal Article
Year (up) 1987 Publication Solid State Communications Abbreviated Journal Solid State Commun.
Volume 63 Issue 2 Pages 137-140
Keywords CERAMIC MATERIALS; GRANULAR MATERIALS; LANTHANUM COMPOUNDS – Electric Conductivity; CRITICAL FIELDS; HIGH TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTOR; MAGNETIC FLUX EXPULSION; TEMPERATURE DEPENDENCE; SUPERCONDUCTING MATERIALS
Abstract We have measured the electrical resistivity, magnetic flux expulsion and critical fields of the new high temperature superconductor La1.8Sr0.2CuO4 after different heat treatments. Our data show that the complete flux expulsion in these samples is consistent with the presence of shielding currents induced in multiple connected structures. The magnetization measurements indicate that the lowest field where flux penetrates into the sample should not be taken to be the bulk Hcl. It is shown that the absolute value of the electrical resistivity and its temperature dependence are not correlated with the superconducting critical field and temperature. We discuss the behaviour of the superconducting parameters and their relation with the electrical resistivity.

Title Penetration depth of a superconducting superlattice Type Journal Article
Year (up) 1987 Publication Physical Review B Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. B
Volume 35 Issue 7 Pages 3655-3656
Keywords
Abstract We have measured the magnetic-flux expulsion of a superconducting superlattice and related it to the Meissner penetration depth. The temperature dependence of the penetration depth is in quantitative agreement with theoretical expectation based on mean-field theory. The zero-temperature penetration depth is found in excellent, quantitative agreement without adjustable parameters with theoretical predictions for dirty superconductors.

Title Anomalous behavior of superconducting samples with a fixed number of vortices Type Journal Article
Year (up) 1987 Publication Physical Review B Abbreviated Journal Phys. Rev. B
Volume 36 Issue 7 Pages 3560-3564
Keywords
Abstract We report an anomalous reversible temperature dependence of the magnetization of amorphous type-II superconductors. The experimental results were obtained studying the vortex pinning in samples with very low vortex concentration. The anomaly is shown to be a consequence of the lack of flux quantization in finite samples.
