Abstract |
We present electrical transport measurements in the superconducting dissipative state of crystalline iron deficient Fe 1−y Se samples. These iron deficient samples were synthesized using NaCl/KCl flux and are characterized by the presence of correlated defects. The dissipation in electrical transport experiments, when the driving current is perpendicular or parallel to the crystal planes, depends strongly on the direction of the applied magnetic field , ( H=12 T), within the sample plane. There is a dissipation modulation each 60∘ due to the presence of the correlated defects. We correlate these angular dependent features with the variation of the critical currents ( Jc ) changing the direction of H confined in the crystals planes. Jc was measured from magnetization loops at fixed temperatures and angles of H always within the basal planes. |

Abstract |
We measure transverse AC losses in the low- and high-amplitude regime of 2H-NbSe2 single crystals using vibrating superconductor methods. The measurements are sensitive to small deviations of the critical state. The data constitute evidence for a peak effect of the critical current as a function of the temperature in this compound. We construct in the H-T phase diagram the “peak-effect” line which is supposed to mark an abrupt cross-over in the vortex-pinning regime. |

Abstract |
Experiments were carried out to probe the underdoped insulating material by the Josephson effect. Junctions were fabricated by exploiting the capability of locally photodoping insulating RBa2Cu3O6+x (R = rare earth) material. The existence of an anomalously large proximity effect was confirmed. The critical current of the junctions was consisted with the conventional Josephson relationship. |

Abstract |
Critical current versus temperature measurements were carried out in ceramic YBa2Cu3O7 samples. The samples were all prepared using the same sintering procedure, but starting from powders obtained by different wet and dry methods. All samples showed a linear Jc vs. T behaviour, typical of Josephson weak-link coupling, with a slope that depends on the preparation method. Using the Ambegaokar-Baratoff relation for Jc, the difference in slopes can be attributed to a change in the characteristic value of the junction resistance. This value turns out to be clearly correlated with the resistivity in the normal state. |

Abstract |
We have performed magnetic susceptibility measurements in Mo(1−x)Gex amorphous thin films biased with an electrical current using anisotropic coils. We tested the symmetry of the vortex response changing the relative orientation between the bias current and the susceptibility coils. We found a region in the DC current–temperature phase diagram where the dynamical vortex structures behave anisotropically. In this region the shielding capability of the superconducting currents measured by the susceptibility coils is less effective along the direction of vortex motion compared to the transverse direction. This anisotropic response is found in the same region where the peak effect in the critical current is developed. On rising temperature the isotropic behavior is recovered. |

Abstract |
We have studied vortex pinning through ac susceptibility measurements in single crystals of YBCO with columnar defects (CDs). The CDs have 0, 10 and 20 splay angle and average direction 108 off the c-axis. By studying the angular variation we can compensate for the anisotropy and effects of twins, etc. Using a simple expression we can obtain the angular spread when the field direction is outside the splay angle. An increase of pinning when the field direction is inside
the angle defined by the CDs can be attributed to vortex entanglement due to the splay and the suppression of the sliding of double kinks. |

Abstract |
Annealing at room temperature of quenched oxygen-depleted YBa2Cu3Oxn (6.5?xn<6.8) films, produces a clear increase in the critical temperature Tc and current density Jc, while the normal state resistivity ?{variant}xx and Hall coefficient RH decrease as a function of annealing time, indicating an increase in carrier density. The enhancement of the critical current density Jc is more pronounced at high fields and temperatures due to a shift of the irreversibility line, which scales with the increasing Tc. The observed changes are accompanied by corresponding changes in the crystalline structure, which can be related to oxygen ordering effects. |

Abstract |
By annealing amorphous Zr75Rh25 prepared by melt spinning an ideal behaviour of the critical current was observed, in which the measured pinning forces are seen to follow the two dimensional Larkin-Orchivnikov theory. In the region where this theory is valid the changes in the pinning forces can be explained by the changes in the superconducting matrix and it can be assumed that the pinning centers do not change with the heat treatment. |

Abstract |
We report on a novel magnetic field dependence of the critical current density of M.B.E. grown Ge/Pb insulator/superconductor multilayers. When the magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the layers, the critical current density Jc drops to a minimum, followed by a broad maximum before finally decaying monotonously to zezero with increasing magnetic field. The dependence of this effect on pinning strength, temperature, and layer thickness suggests either a thermally driven coupling/decoupling transition, or melting of the vortex lattice. |
