  Abstract We report on transport measurements in the mixed state of YBa2Cu3O7 single crystals using the dc flux transformer geometry. In the vortex fluid regime we have observed the onset of a nonlocal conductivity. At lower temperatures, close to but above the phase transition temperature the vortices become effectively three dimensional in character. This is in sharp contrast to recent flux transformer experiments on Bi2Sr2CaCu2O which have failed to see a nonlocal conductivity, confirming the two-dimensional character at high temperatures of the vortices in that system. These observations suggest that in a finite temperature interval, the vortex state in YBa2Cu3O7 is a line liquid.

  Abstract An evidence presented that supports partial gapping of the Fermi surface by a measurement of the Hall frequency from high frequency magneto-optical measurements on underdoped YBa2Cu3O6+x (YBCO) was discussed. It was found that the Hall frequency was obtained independently of the unknown k-space dependence of the carrier scattering rates that complicated the dc Hall effect. It was observed that the frequency dependence of the Hall angle was Drude-like and indicated a quasielastic relaxation process for optimal and underdoped samples. The results show that there was an increase of the Hall frequency in the pseudogap state.

  Abstract We report on results of electrical resistivity and structural investigations on the cubic modification of FeGe under high pressure. The long-wavelength helical order (TC=280K) is suppressed at a critical pressure pc≈19GPa. An anomaly at TX(p) and strong deviations from a Fermi-liquid behavior in a wide pressure range above pc suggest that the suppression of TC disagrees with the standard notion of a quantum critical phase transition. The metallic ground state persisting at high pressure can be described by band-structure calculations if zero-point motion is included. The shortest FeGe interatomic distance display discontinuous changes in the pressure dependence close to the TC(p) phase line.

  Abstract We report a novel magnetic-field dependence of the critical-current density Jc in artificially grown Ge/Pb superlattices. In these layered structures Jc exhibits an unexpected minimum as a function of perpendicular applied field, unlike any ever observed in other superconductor systems. The systematic evolution of this minimum as a function of layer thicknesses, temperature and pinning strength is related to either flux-lattice decoupling or melting.

  Abstract Multiterminal measurements using experimental technique on twinned and untwinned YBa2Cu3O7-? crystals were presented. Inhomogeneous current distribution acting upon an uncorrelated vortex system showed that the dissipation of voltage at the top was larger than at the bottom. The behavior of the current voltage curves showed that the result Vtop = Vbot was a consequence of the limited voltage sensitivity.
