Thanks to an agreement between the Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica and the Fundación Balseiro for the carrying out of technological assistance, within the framework of law No. 23,877, its regulatory order No. 1331/96, and the Fundación Balseiro-CNEA regulatory framework agreement held on february 21, 2003, the Magnetic Resonance Laboratory now offers assistance and technological services to users outside the national atomic energy commission.

The technical details of the services offered by our laboratory are detailed below:

RM01 – Electronic Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
Description: Electronic Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy in 1.7, 9.5, 24 and 34 GHz from 2K to 800K (depending on frequency). Equipment: Bruker Elexsys E500 and Bruker ESP 300.

RM02 – Measurement of magnetization and magnetic susceptibilities
Description: Measurement of magnetization and magnetic susceptibilities from 4K to 1000 K with magnetic fields up to 5 Tesla (depending on the system). Ease of angular and vector measurements. Techniques SQUID (Quantum Design Team), VSM (LakeShore Team), effect Kerr (home-made equipment), Loop Tracer (home-made equipment) and Faraday scale (Home-made equipment).

RM03 – Measurements of electrical conductivity
Description: Measurement of electrical conductivity as a function of temperature and field magnetic. From 4K to 300K with magnetic fields up to 2 or 9 Tesla. (Home-made equipment)

RM04 – Seebeck Effect Measurement
Description: Measurement of Seebeck Effect and capacitance in materials of high or low electrical resistance between 4 K and 500 K. (Home-made equipment)

RM05 – Electrical impedance measurements
Description: Electrical impedance measurements. Temperature: 100 K – 1000 K, frequency: 40 Hz – 110 MHz (Home-made equipment)

RM06 – Three-dimensional topography measurements at the microscopic level
Description: Measurements of three-dimensional topography and magnetic images and local conductivity in an atomic force microscope. Veeco Dimension 3100. Resolution at height: 1 nm, lateral resolution 30nm. Contact and tapping modes. Possibility of measuring with applied field and temperatures close to room temperature.

RM07 – Magneto-optic Kerr effect magnetic domain microscopy.
Description: Magneto-optic Kerr effect magnetic domain microscopy. Lateral resolution ~ 1 micrometer. (Home-made equipment)

RM08 – Measurements in Equipment for Magnetic Fluid Hyperthermia (MFH).
Description: Equipment for Magnetic Fluid Hyperthermia (MFH). AC field with power of 680 W and with a working frequency range between 213 kHz and 570 kHz. Fiber optic temperature measurement system.

RM09 – Continuous and alternating magnetic field measurement
Description: Measurement of continuous and alternating magnetic field up to 3 tesla (30 kOe) with LakeShore 550 gaussmeter.

RM10 – Electronic Magnetic Resonance Ionizing Radiation Metrology
Description: Metrology of ionizing radiation by Electronic Magnetic Resonance. Measurement of ionizing radiation dose in the ranges of 100 Gy to 100 kGy by using Alanine sensors.

RM11 – Synthesis and heat treatments of nanostructures
Description: There are facilities for the synthesis and heat treatments of nanostructures: nanoparticles, thin films and multilayers, nanotubes, nanowires, etc. Chemical room, machines for the deposition of thin films, etc.

RM12 – Manufacture of samples in very high temperature furnaces
Description: Manufacture of samples in very high temperature furnaces (up to 1600 °C). Carbolyte ovens with MoSi2 heaters. possibility of carry out the synthesis in a controlled atmosphere.

RM13 – Simultaneous thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis from ambient temperature up to 1500 ºC, in different atmospheres
Description: Simultaneous thermogravimetric and differential thermal analysis from ambient temperature up to 1500 ºC, in different atmospheres. Equipment Shimadzu DTG-60H.

RM14 – Optical lithography on thin films
Description: Optical lithography on thin films using laser system and software development to design and manufacture devices at scale micro and nano. Development of own team awarded in the contest IB50K

RM15 – Technical consulting on manufacturing methods and characterization of nanostructures and magnetic materials
Description: Technical consulting on manufacturing methods and characterization of nanostructures and magnetic materials. Our laboratory carries more 25 years of work with different types of nanostructures. There are some 20 researchers with experience in different areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology with the capabilities to bring technical consulting.
